This past month, 7th and 8th grade science students participated in March Mammal Madness! This tournament was inspired by the NCAA college basketball tournament and has been organized and run by Arizona State University every year since 2013. The tournament aims to answer the question. "Which mammal would win in a battle?"
Students were assigned one of 65 contenders to research and hype up to their peers. They then did a gallery walk of everyone’s hype posters to get informed and pick their brackets. For a few weeks, classes enjoyed entertaining battle recap videos provided by ASU which gave the battle highlights and allowed students to update their brackets.
In the end, the Great White Shark took the championship after battling the Giant Squid. There were some great victories, some shocking upsets, and a lot of laughs. The tournament was enjoyed by all.
Congratulations to our LVMS bracket champs
8-1 Winner and overall point champ - Caitlyn Andolina
8-2 Winner Raima Bera
8-3 Winner Jackson Lipski
7th grade Winner Lukas Cioccia
