Thanks to impressive fundraising at the PTO's Fun Run, BAC students earned the treat of seeing Mr. Perruso and Mr. O'Connor skateboard and scooter down the hallways (while wearing inflatable costumes!) on Thursday! It was a fun afternoon with lots of laughter.

Cucinella honored our veterans this week. On Wednesday, veterans with the American Veterans Association Post 1776 joined students to raise our flag and sing patriotic songs. Many students also presented the veterans with cards and crafts showing their gratitude for their service. Fifth-grade students then had time to ask the veterans questions in their classrooms and learn about their experiences. It was great day! Thank you, veterans!

Honoring Our Heroes this Veterans Day
Today, Cucinella Elementary School proudly honors the brave men and women who have served our country with courage, dedication, and pride. Your sacrifices protect the freedoms we enjoy each and every day, and we are deeply grateful.
This morning, our students will participate in a moment of silence to reflect on the service and sacrifice of our Veterans. Throughout the day, teachers are leading classroom lessons and discussions focused on the importance of Veterans Day, helping our students understand what it means to serve, to sacrifice, and to show gratitude to those who protect our nation.
On Wednesday, we are honored to welcome members of the American Veterans Association of Washington Township Post 1776 for a Flag Raising Ceremony with the whole school and then a meet and greet with our 5th grade students. This special event gives our students the chance to thank local Veterans in person, hear their stories, and learn more about what it means to serve one’s country, just another example of how our school community comes together to honor and support our nation’s heroes.
From all of us at Cucinella: thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your love of country. ❤️🤍💙

📚 Library Media Center Grand Reopening
When the doors opened Tuesday morning, we hit the ground running, literally! Our beloved mascot Nellie helped us celebrate the grand reopening of our Library Media Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony (or more accurately, a ribbon running-through-ing!).
The space has been completely refreshed thanks to the incredible work of Ms. Brunetti and our dedicated PTO volunteers. Students’ faces lit up as they stepped into the newly redesigned space for the first time, there were smiles, giggles, and plenty of “oohs” and “aahs.”
Library and STEM classes are now officially back in the media center, and we couldn’t be more excited. While we’re still putting the finishing touches on the STEM Lab, it’s wonderful to see these referendum projects nearing completion. The new spaces are already inspiring curiosity, creativity, and joy in our students.

🐟 Trout in the Classroom Project
Wednesday brought science to life for our fifth graders, who received a special delivery from the Pequest Fish Hatchery, nearly 100 fertilized trout eggs! As part of the “Trout in the Classroom” project, students will raise the trout right here at school, learning about habitats, ecosystems, and life cycles along the way.
This hands-on learning experience is a favorite every year and gives students a unique opportunity to care for living creatures while studying the science behind their growth. A big thank you to Mr. Dave Jones, Mrs. Bridget Brown, and Mrs. Larissa Krul for coordinating this amazing program and bringing environmental science to life in our classrooms.

7th and 8th grade members of the National Junior Honor Society volunteered today with Grow A Row at Pittstown Farm harvesting potatoes. By the end of the day LVMS along with two other schools volunteering harvested 16,435 pounds of potatoes which means 67,000 people will get a serving of potatoes. Grow A Row is a non-profit organization with the mission of providing fresh produce to those that don't have the means to purchase.
