Our 4th and 5th graders on Monday attended a district-sponsored cyber safety assembly titled 'Permanent and Public' hosted by Richard Guerry of iroc2.org. Some highlights from the program:
- If you are holding your device or wearing it, whatever you share is public and permanent to the planet. Your device is an incredible tool that allows you to do amazing things. Show the world what an amazing and beautiful person you are through what you post and send to others
- Are you okay if what you put out there becomes public and permanent? If you post awesome stuff, you won't have a problem.
- Keep risk low online while gaming. If you wouldn't say it or take it from a stranger in a local arcade, don't. Keep the conversation to the game and only on the game. Stay out of the DMs.
- Tell an adult if you're being made to feel uncomfortable on any device. Copy, print, and save what was said and share it with an adult.
- Anything posted online can be downloaded by anyone on the planet, even if you delete it.
- Privacy settings are an illusion. They may limit visibility, but you do not have privacy with a connected device.
- Tell someone about a pop up if you don't know how it got there. That is not an issue. You will not be in trouble.
- Do not respond to cyber bullying online. You only give them more information. Copy, print, and save it. Give/show it to an adult.
- Apologize immediately for saying something unkind online and tell an adult to minimize the damage. Learning from mistakes is called maturing.
Mr. Geurry will be back in the spring with a presentation for elementary school parents. When a date is secured, we will share it. We strongly recommend parents of grades 2-5 attend.

5th graders engage with creating stop motion video projects.

Kindergarten and 3rd graders enjoy a Buddy Class shamrock activity.

Many thanks to Mrs. Sokol for facilitating kindness-focused lessons the past two weeks starting during Random Acts of Kindness Week. Thanks also to Mrs. Conklin and Mrs. Kazan for providing time during library classes.
