Save the Date - 6th grade orientation

April 21, 2023

Good afternoon, 5th Grade Parents/Guardians:

With nicer weather settling in and the close of the school year not too far off, we’d like to invite parents/guardians of Fifth Grade students to join us on Thursday, May 18 to learn more about the Long Valley Middle School.

We look forward to welcoming the LVMS Class of 2026 for several of their own student orientation events before the end of the month.  On May 22, fifth grade students from OFRS and FKS will visit LVMS.  Then, on Tuesday, 5/30, fifth grade students from BAC will visit our school.  During these visits, students will get an overview of our school, they’ll tour the building with LVMS Peer Leaders and see a school day in action, and they’ll have many opportunities to ask questions of some of our LVMS staff & student leaders.

Our orientation for parents/guardians of incoming students will be held on Thursday, May 18, beginning at 7pm.  We will follow the format we used last Spring, which seemed to provide wonderful opportunities for parents to get to know our school.  It’s our hope that the information provided this evening will be helpful as we prepare, collectively, for your child’s transition to middle school.  Throughout the evening, parents will visit our Performing Arts Center, our Gymnasium, and our Multipurpose Room and hear from our building administration, our School Counselors, some of our student leaders, and from our Grade 6 teacher-leaders.

During this event, we’ll provide parents/guardians with an overview of our school, our vision, and the many opportunities that await the students as they become LVMS Panthers.  Of course, parents will have opportunities to ask questions, as well as to visit our 6th Grade hallway & classrooms if they wish, so you can visualize what a day in the life of your LVMS 6th grade student may look like.

We are excited to welcome our incoming class and we look forward to meeting our incoming parents, too!

We look forward to seeing you on the evening of May 18th.

Thank you,

Mark S. Ippolito
