Ms. Davies

On January 21, 2026, the District held a Parent University workshop on dyslexia and it was  met with an enthusiastic turnout and overwhelmingly positive feedback from families across the district. The presentation, led by reading specialist Ms. Davies, provided parents with a clear and compassionate understanding of what dyslexia is, how it presents at different ages, and how schools use research-based instructional practices to support struggling readers.

Families learned about the science of reading, multisensory structured literacy approaches such as Orton-Gillingham, and the importance of early identification and targeted instruction. Ms. Davies also emphasized the emotional experience many students face when learning to read, reinforcing the message that children are not broken, they simply learn differently, and that with the right instruction, every student can make meaningful progress.

Parents appreciated both the practical strategies they can use at home and the hopeful, empowering tone of the evening. The strong attendance and thoughtful discussion highlighted the district’s ongoing commitment to partnering with families and supporting students with diverse learning needs.
