Mrs. Rojas, our School Social Worker/Counselor at OFRS, is planning a month full of activities that will kick off with the "Week of Respect". We will highlight the entire month of October with a variety of lessons and challenges for students and teachers. This year, “Pete the Cat” will help us by sharing his “Tips from a Cool Cat on how to be Kind.”
Learners will be participating in a classroom-based mini-lesson centered around the Responsive Classroom tenets, with an accompanying cooperative classroom activity along with “Pete the Cat’s Groovy Guide to Kindness.”
4th & 5th grade students will create posters that will be displayed throughout the hallways to honor the concepts we are highlighting, such as cooperation, respect, empathy, and citizenship. 5th grade students will begin to prepare lessons for our younger students.
We will also enjoy a PTO sponsored assembly called “LeadU” during the month of October.
Community connection: Schoolwide collections for the LV Food Pantry will take place at the beginning of October and last through the month. Stay tuned!
