About Mr. Perruso

Christopher J. Perruso began his tenure in the Washington Township Schools in September 2020.  Prior to his role as Principal, he was the Assistant Principal at Benedict A. Cucinella School.  

Over the course of Mr. Perruso's career, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Rutgers University and a Master’s of Arts in Educational Leadership from Ramapo College.   He has also received extensive training from Columbia University’s Teachers College in the area of elementary literacy instruction.   He currently holds the following certifications from the New Jersey Department of Education: Principal, Supervisor, Elementary School Teacher, and Elementary School with Subject Matter Specialization: Science Gr. 5-8. 

Before coming to Long Valley, Mr. Perruso previously worked in the Florham Park School District from 2003- 2020.  He started his teaching career as a 5th grade science teacher at Brooklake Elementary School.  He spent the next 15 years at Brooklake, teaching a variety of subjects all in the 5th grade.  During that time, he worked closely with the special education department as he was often paired with the resource room or in-class support teacher.  In his last two years at Florham Park, Mr. Perruso worked at Ridgedale Middle School, where he taught 6th and 7th grade science and served as the building’s Dean of Students. 

Mr. Perruso was born in Orange, NJ and raised in West Orange and Roxbury, NJ.  He currently resides in Morristown, with his wife Jayne, who is a teacher in the Belleville School District.  Outside of school, Mr. Perruso’s hobbies include golf, hockey, and playing the guitar.

About Mr. O'Connor

Dan O’Connor began his tenure in the Washington Township Schools in October 2023. 

Mr. O’Connor earned a bachelor of arts degree in Political Science from Yale University and a master’s degree in Urban Education from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his principal certification coursework at Caldwell University, and he currently holds Principal and Elementary School Teacher certifications from the New Jersey Department of Education.

Before coming to Long Valley, Mr. O’Connor worked at Mastery Charter Schools in Philadelphia from 2012 to 2014 and at the Montclair Public Schools from 2014 to 2023. Mr. O’Connor taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade during his time in the classroom, and he often partnered with a special education co-teacher in an in-class support setting. Mr. O’Connor also coordinated extended-day tutoring programs, providing students targeted intervention supports. In his last three years in Montclair, Mr. O’Connor led district-wide summer school programming for students in grades K to 5.

Mr. O’Connor was born and raised in Westwood, MA. He currently resides in Wayne, with his wife Julie, daughter Kelsey, and son Adrian.  Outside of school, Mr. O’Connor loves to fish, hike, and watch the New Jersey Devils.
