Washington Township Schools strive to provide challenging instruction to meet the needs of all of our individual learners. The State of NJ defines gifted children as: Those students who possess or demonstrate high levels of ability, in one or more content areas, when compared to their chronological peers in the local district and who require modification of their educational program if they are to achieve in accordance with their capabilities. In Washington Township, our gifted students can qualify for the TaG program in grades 3-5. The program is designed to meet the needs of those students who require a differentiated curriculum in an environment that addresses their unique learning styles. Students may qualify based upon their verbal, quantitative, or nonverbal strengths. Prior to grade 3 students may participate in push-in enrichment activities with our TaG teachers. All students at the elementary level participate in our school-wide enrichment courses. Once the students reach the middle school, there are many related arts/exploratory courses available to meet the needs of our individual learners. There is an exploratory course designed specifically for our academically talented students that students may participate in, or they may choose to explore other areas such as band, orchestra or STEM.
