“Run Like Lightning” 5k Fun Run, Walk, Bike, To Benefit Glenn Lightner,
A Long Valley Teen With Brain Cancer
Glenn is a 13 year old Long Valley Middle School student who loves to play football and basketball with his younger brother, Karl, and friends. Unfortunately, Glenn has been fighting Anaplastic Ependymoma Grade III brain cancer since first being diagnosed at the age of 8 in 2007. He has undergone several surgeries, along with chemotherapy and radiation treatments. In search of a cure, Glenn and his family traveled to Belgium for an alternative treatment option. The cost of the treatment is estimated at over $100,000, and will not be covered by insurance, leaving the Lightner Family to bear the full financial responsibility. We hope that you will join us, the Washington Township PBA Local 301 and Long Valley Middle School, in helping the Lightners ease their financial burden. On Saturday October 6th, 2012 starting and ending at the Long Valley Middle School, we will be hosting a 5k event, “Run Like Lightning.” This is a family event open to all ages (Adults and Children may ride bikes if they wish). Food & drinks will be served and prizes will be awarded in several categories. All proceeds will go directly to Glenn and his family. REGISTRATION Saturday October 6th, 2012, 9:00 AM (Registration opens at 8AM) Individual – $20 per person if you register before September 1, after Sept. 1, and the day of the event $25. Family – $50 before September 1, after September 1, and the day of the event, $55. |
